The simplest way to reach Lynn Valley Centre from North Vancouver is by bus from Lonsdale Quay, or by car or taxi. From downtown Vancouver the drive is about 15 km and 25 minutes without heavy traffic, and the SeaBus plus a bus takes longer.
Which option fits depends on where you start, the time of day and how you feel about parking.
Buses from Lonsdale Quay
Two TransLink routes run between Lonsdale Quay and Lynn Valley Centre. The 228 follows Grand Boulevard and leaves from Bay 2 at the Quay. The 229 leaves from Bay 6 and runs along Lonsdale Avenue before continuing to Lynn Valley. The 228 runs about every 30 minutes through the day and more often at peak, so check the TransLink trip planner for the exact times on your day.
If you start in downtown Vancouver, the SeaBus from Waterfront Station crosses to Lonsdale Quay, where you pick up either bus. Leave extra time for the transfer, since the total depends on how well the sailing and the bus line up.
Driving to Lynn Valley
The centre is in the Lynn Valley neighbourhood, and the roads that lead there are the same ones locals use for the trailheads at Lynn Canyon, so weekends in fine weather can be busy. Weekday rush hours also slow the main roads on the North Shore, particularly where traffic funnels toward the bridges. A navigation app with live traffic helps you pick the best way in on the day.
The centre has its own parking. Hours, rates and the busiest times are best checked on the centre’s website or from signs on site.
Taxi and rideshare
A taxi works well when you are carrying shopping, travelling with children or heading out in the evening when buses thin out. The taxi fare estimator shows a rough fare for the distance, and the Vancouver taxi page covers pickups around Metro Vancouver. Rideshare apps also operate on the North Shore, with prices that rise at busy times.
Cycling is another option for confident riders, though the climb up toward Lynn Valley is steady. Check the District of North Vancouver cycling map before choosing a route.
