Country Club Centre is a shopping mall inside Nanaimo itself, so no ferry is involved. The easiest ways to reach it are BC Transit Route 1, the Nanaimo Rapid Line, or a taxi. If you are arriving from the mainland, the ferry only gets you to the city, and the trip from the terminal is a local one.
Where the mall sits
Country Club Centre is at 3200 North Island Highway, in north Nanaimo, and has a transit exchange of its own on Norwell Drive. Buses call there in both directions, which makes it one of the easier shopping stops to reach without a car. The mall lists more than 56 stores and keeps shorter hours on Sundays, so check its website for the hours on the day you go.
Route 1 up the Island Highway
Route 1 runs express along the Island Highway from downtown Nanaimo through Terminal Park to Country Club Exchange and on to Woodgrove Exchange. For most trips from the city centre it is the simplest choice, with no transfer needed.
Other routes also stop at the exchange:
- Route 25, the ferry shuttle, which links Woodgrove Exchange, Country Club Exchange, the Departure Bay ferry terminal and downtown.
- Route 30, the hospital route, which passes Nanaimo Regional Hospital and Northfield on its way to Country Club.
- Some trips on Route 20 and 20A, which divert to Country Club.
Because some of these are partial trips, open the BC Transit trip planner and enter your start point and Country Club Exchange. It shows the next departure and the right route for the hour you travel.
Coming off the Departure Bay ferry
Passengers arriving at Departure Bay can look at the Route 25 ferry shuttle, which is built around the terminal and includes Country Club in its stops. Check the schedule against your sailing time before you count on it. The Duke Point terminal is further out of town, and there you should plan the bus connection in the trip planner or call a cab.
Taxi or rideshare
With shopping bags, a cab is often easier than the bus home. The taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare, the Nanaimo taxi page lists local companies, and the Uber estimate calculator shows a ballpark rideshare price.
