Ferry Terminal Taxi and Uber Prices in BC, Compared

Ferry terminals are often a drive from the town they serve, and the cheapest or quickest way to cover that last stretch is not always obvious. The table compares the estimated Uber price with the taxi tariff for the ferry terminal routes we cover. Each route links to its own page.

Estimates from average rates at normal demand, before tips, tolls and airport fees. The taxi column uses the tariff of a company listed for the route when one is published, and is left empty when none is.

Tips for a ride from a terminal

  • Book a taxi ahead for a sailing that arrives late or early. Small-town companies may have few cars.
  • Tell the dispatcher which ferry you are on, so they can follow the arrival time.
  • If you are a foot passenger, ask whether the company has room for luggage or bikes.
  • Check the rideshare app before you rely on it. In small towns cars can be few or none.

Terminals on the island sit near Nanaimo, Victoria, the Comox Valley and Campbell River, and the Gulf Islands have their own page for taxis on the Gulf Islands. If you are coming from the mainland, our guide to getting from Vancouver to Nanaimo without a car covers the crossing, and the Vancouver Island without a car guide covers what comes next.

Estimate a different trip

For a terminal that is not in the table, put the distance into the taxi fare estimator or the Uber estimate calculator. See how we calculate for the method.
