The usual transit route from downtown Vancouver to Lynn Canyon Park is the SeaBus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay, then a bus up to Lynn Valley. By road it is about 15 km and 25 minutes. Parking at the park is paid and fills early in summer.
SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay and the 228 or 229
Take the SeaBus across Burrard Inlet to Lonsdale Quay. From there, bus 228 or 229 goes to Lynn Valley Centre, and the park is about a 15 minute walk from that stop. Another option is the 228 to Peters Road: get off there, turn right and walk down Peters Road into the park. One published trip report puts the whole journey from downtown at around an hour and five minutes each way.
The 228 runs between Lynn Valley and Lonsdale Quay daily, roughly every 30 minutes, with more frequent trips at peak times. Check the TransLink trip planner for the next departure, since timetables shift through the year.
Direct bus 227
Bus 227 goes to the main entrance. It connects at Phibbs Exchange, which suits people coming from Burnaby or East Vancouver, and you can also reach it by taking the 229 from Lonsdale Quay and transferring.
Driving up Lynn Valley Road
The park’s own directions say to take the upper levels of Highway 1 to exit 19 and follow Lynn Valley Road northeast past Mountain Highway. Watch for the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre sign on the right, turn onto Peters Road and continue to the main entrance at the end.
Pay parking is in effect. The lot fills quickly in summer, so go early or take the bus. Current rates are on the District of North Vancouver website.
Getting there by taxi
A cab is simple if you are carrying a picnic or travelling with small children. The taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare, and the Vancouver taxi page covers pickups in the city.
- Look up the next bus in the trip planner before you leave.
- Ask about current parking rates before you drive, since the lot is pay parking.
