Most large Vancouver taxi companies take credit cards, but the safest habit is to ask when you book. On our lists, Vancouver Taxi, Yellow Cab Vancouver, Richmond Taxi, North Shore Taxi, Coquitlam Taxi and Bel-Air Taxi all say they accept cards. Other companies in the area do not say, so call and check before you rely on it.

Other Metro Vancouver companies, like MacLure’s Cabs and Whalley Taxi, list app booking or airport rides but do not mention cards on the pages we use. That does not mean they refuse them. It means we have not seen it stated.
Ask three things when you book
- Do you take cards, and which ones?
- Is there a fee for paying by card?
- Can I pay in the app, or only in the car?
Tips for a smooth payment
Tell the driver at the start that you plan to pay by card. If the machine does not work, ask the driver what the options are before the meter runs on. A tip can usually be added at the terminal, and you can ask for a receipt before you get out.
Outside Vancouver, card acceptance is less common in small towns. Of the 55 companies on our site, only a handful say they take cards, and Tofino Taxi is reported as cash only.
