The easiest way from Vancouver International Airport to Aberdeen Centre is the Canada Line. Board at YVR-Airport station and ride to Aberdeen station, which sits right next to the mall.
Riding the Canada Line to Aberdeen station
The airport station is part of the same line that runs through Richmond. Going south, the Richmond stops are Sea Island Centre, Templeton, Bridgeport, Lansdowne and then Aberdeen, so you stay on the same train the whole way and do not need to change. Richmond stations are only a few minutes apart, and the train runs from about 5:00 am to 1:00 am every day.
Aberdeen Centre is connected to the station. An overhead walkway links the northbound platform to Aberdeen Square and the mall, so the walk is short and mostly indoors. That makes this trip easy with a suitcase or a stroller.
Paying the fare from the airport
Trips that start at the three Sea Island stations (YVR-Airport, Sea Island Centre and Templeton) carry a $5 AddFare on top of the regular fare. You pay it with a Compass Card, a single-use ticket or a contactless card at the gates, and you tap in and tap out. For the current regular fare and zone rules, look at TransLink’s fare pages before you travel, because prices change.
Taxi from YVR to Aberdeen Centre
A taxi makes sense when the group is large, the bags are heavy or the train feels like one step too many after a long flight. The ride is a short hop across Richmond, and the time depends on the traffic on the way. To get a rough idea of the price before you go, try the taxi fare estimator, or look at the Vancouver taxi page for companies that serve the airport area.
Before you go
- Check the TransLink trip planner on the day for any service notices on the Canada Line.
- Keep the Aberdeen exit in mind when you board, since you pass Lansdowne just before it.
- Late arrivals after the last train need a taxi or rideshare, so plan for that if your flight lands close to 1:00 am.
- Aberdeen Centre has its own parking if you are meeting someone with a car.
Door-to-door, the train is usually the simplest choice, and the route is a single line with no transfers.
