From Richmond, the Canada Line is the easiest way to Vancouver International Airport. Trains run from about 5:00 am to 1:00 am every day, and the trip from Richmond Brighouse to YVR Airport Station is under 20 minutes. Fares and the airport surcharge are explained below.
Canada Line from Richmond to YVR Airport Station
Richmond has seven Canada Line stations: Richmond Brighouse, Aberdeen, Lansdowne, Bridgeport, Templeton, Sea Island Centre and YVR Airport. Board at the one nearest you and check the sign on the front of the train to make sure it is heading for YVR Airport. From YVR Airport back to Richmond Brighouse the station to station time is 9 minutes.
A fare is needed for the ride. Single fares on the network run from $3.35 to $6.60 depending on zones and fare type. Paper tickets and Compass Cards come from station machines, and adults can tap a contactless credit card. The $5 AddFare only applies to trips leaving from YVR Airport, Sea Island Centre or Templeton, so the ride toward the airport does not carry it. Confirm current fares on the TransLink site.
Taxi or rideshare to the terminal
A car makes sense with several bags, a young family or an early flight before the trains start. The distance is short, and the taxi fare estimator shows a rough fare from your address. The Vancouver taxi page covers local pickups.
If you drive
The airport has its own parking lots and garages with posted fees. Look up current rates on the YVR website before choosing, and compare the total with the train fare and a ride.
Before you leave
- Check the TransLink trip planner and service alerts for the Canada Line.
- Leave early for international flights, and allow time for the walk from the station into the terminal.
