A taxi from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to downtown Vancouver is a flat zone fare, reported at $46 for the Canada Place and downtown zone since October 2024. A night surcharge of 15 percent was reported for rides between midnight and 5 a.m. Confirm the current fare with the taxi company before you ride.

How YVR taxi fares work
Flat zone fares
Taxis leaving the airport charge by destination zone, so the price does not rise if traffic is heavy. Under the zone fares introduced in October 2024, some fares went up by as much as $9, and the downtown zone rose from $38 to $46. A $4 premium location charge was part of the new structure. Ask the driver or dispatcher to confirm the total for your drop-off address before you leave the curb.
What can change the total

Other ways to get from YVR to downtown
Ride-sharing
Uber and Lyft pick up at designated ride app curbs. Prices depend on demand and time of day, so take a quote close to the time you need the ride. With Uber Reserve you can lock a price up to 90 days ahead, as the Uber site describes.
Public transit
The Canada Line reaches downtown in as little as 25 minutes. Since July 1, 2026, the YVR AddFare is $6.50, charged on top of the regular fare on eastbound trips that start at the airport. A one-zone adult single trip is $2.85 with Compass stored value and $3.50 in cash. Transit is the lower-cost choice if you do not need door-to-door service.
Rental cars
A rental suits visitors who plan to travel beyond the city, but you pay for fuel and parking on top. For a single trip downtown, a taxi, rideshare or the train is usually simpler.
