Flat zone fares
Taxis leaving YVR charge set fares by destination zone for trips in Vancouver and Richmond. The fares rose on October 11, 2024, after the Passenger Transportation Board approved the increase, and every zone went up by at least $3. Portions of the Downtown and Kitsilano zone and the Canada Place zone were merged into one Canada Place and Downtown zone. Because the fare is fixed, a slow trip on the Oak Street or Granville approach does not change what you pay for this zone.

The Sea Island zone, where the airport sits, is $24, and the North East Vancouver zone is $51. Trips to other Metro Vancouver cities are metered instead, so the fare depends on distance and time in traffic.
Taxi company and extras
Rates are approved by the Board, so they do not differ much between companies on airport trips. Ask the driver to confirm the zone fare before you set off, and ask whether any extras apply to your luggage or a late trip.
Getting to the right place at Canada Place
Canada Place has a cruise ship terminal, a convention centre next door and several hotels, so give the driver the exact entrance or hotel name. On cruise ship days, traffic near the terminal can be heavy, which is worth allowing for if you need to catch a sailing.
