Vancouver Island has three full casinos: Elements Casino Victoria in View Royal, Casino Nanaimo on Terminal Avenue, and RimRock Casino in Port Alberni. Each can be reached by taxi from its own town, and Uber operates in Greater Victoria, Oceanside and the Courtenay and Comox area according to our directory. This page lists the addresses, the hours the operators publish, the local taxi companies, and where to get free help if gambling stops being fun.
We are an independent guide, not a casino and not a dispatcher. Nothing here is a recommendation to gamble, and prices for rides are not quoted because fares depend on the company, the time and the route.

Hours change around holidays and events, so a quick call or a look at the casino website before leaving saves a wasted trip. RimRock states 19+ for its gaming centre and restaurant, and the other two casinos have their own entry rules, so bring photo ID and confirm the minimum age with the venue.
Elements Casino Victoria in View Royal
Elements is on the Island Highway in View Royal, in Greater Victoria. It was formerly the View Royal Casino. The operator lists slot machines including high limit rooms, live tables for blackjack, roulette, baccarat variants, Four Card Poker, Pai Gow and Texas Hold’em, electronic tables, and poker games.
Food comes from The Well Public House, which serves from breakfast into the late evening. The Platinum Room hosts comedy, trivia and dinner shows and can also be booked for meetings. Check the event calendar before going, since a show night changes how busy the drop-off area is.
Ownership changed recently. In January 2025 the Snuneymuxw First Nation, through its wholly owned Petroglyph Development Group, closed the purchase of both Elements Casino Victoria and Casino Nanaimo from Great Canadian Entertainment. Great Canadian was due to provide transition services for up to two years, so signage and branding can differ from what older articles describe.
Casino Nanaimo on Terminal Avenue
Casino Nanaimo is at 620 Terminal Avenue in Nanaimo. Its website lists more than 400 slot machines with bets from one cent, live table games such as blackjack and Texas Hold’em, electronic tables, and a poker game at $1/$3 No Limit. There is also a loyalty program called Encore Rewards.
The Well Public House is the on-site restaurant, with pub fare and weekly music trivia and music bingo nights. The Loft is a small room for events and meetings of up to 49 guests, according to the casino.
Because the casino stays open until 1 AM or 2 AM, the return trip is the part to plan. Nanaimo has several taxi companies, listed in the table below, and the ride from most central hotels is short.
RimRock Casino in Port Alberni
RimRock is the only full casino on the west side of the island that we could confirm. It is a 28,000 square foot rainforest-themed building at 4890 Cherry Creek Road. The casino states about 105 slot machines, a multi-sport simulator, and two event rooms, one seating 70 and one seating 60.
Cypress Restaurant and Lounge serves a globally inspired menu with cocktails and wine. The Port Alberni Chamber of Commerce directory also lists Loon Lake Bingo Hall at the venue, with electronic bingo.
Port Alberni is a separate town from Nanaimo and Parksville, and our directory lists fewer local taxi companies there than for Victoria or Nanaimo. Campbell River, Duncan and names that circulate in older lists
Two names appear in many older casino lists for the island: Great British Casino in Nanaimo and Casino Opal Outpost in Campbell River. Neither could be matched to a licensed venue, so they are not covered here. Campbell River and Duncan have Chances community gaming centres (Chances Campbell River and Chances Cowichan), which are smaller than the three casinos above. Ride-hail options
Our directory lists Uber in Greater Victoria, from Langford to downtown and the Saanich Peninsula, including Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. It also lists Uber in the Oceanside area (Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanoose Bay, Coombs and Errington), where availability depends on local drivers, and Uber in Courtenay and Comox. Coastal Rides, a rideshare app, lists Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum Beach and the Comox Valley among its areas.
We found no Uber listing for Port Alberni. At the end of a night out, open the app before leaving the building and see whether a car is nearby. If none is, a booked taxi is the safer plan.
What the ride will cost
Fares come from the meter or from a price the company agrees to in advance, and the rate differs between companies. To get a figure for a specific trip, enter the pickup and the casino in our taxi fare estimator, or compare with an app price in the Uber calculator. Both are estimates. The company that takes your booking gives the price that counts.
A few habits keep the bill predictable. Ask the dispatcher whether a flat rate applies, confirm whether the return trip needs a new booking, and ask about the surcharge for waiting if the plan is to leave a friend at the door and come back later.
Getting home safely
The casino restaurants and lounges serve drinks, so the ride home matters as much as the ride there. Book the return before the evening starts, especially in Port Alberni and on weekend nights when Elements stays open until 4 AM.
- Save two taxi numbers from the table above in the phone, in case the first company has no car.
- Check the licence or company name on the car before getting in, and share the trip with someone you trust.
- If the ride is a long transfer, ask about payment type in advance, since not every company lists card acceptance.
- Never drive after drinking. A taxi fare is cheaper than the consequences.

Gambling carries a real risk of loss. Decide a spending limit and a time limit before entering, bring only that amount, and leave when either is reached. Winning streaks do not make the next result any more likely, and casinos do not publish bonuses or systems that change that.
