How to get from Richmond to Richmond Hospital?

2 min read Updated

Richmond Hospital is at 7000 Westminster Highway, and the easiest way to reach it from central Richmond is the Canada Line to Richmond-Brighouse Station, then a short walk west. The station is about three blocks east of the hospital, so the walk is brief.

Canada Line to Richmond-Brighouse

Ride the Canada Line to Richmond-Brighouse Station, the end of the Richmond branch. From the station, walk west along Westminster Highway toward the hospital, which sits beside Minoru Park. Use the TransLink trip planner for train times from your own starting point, since frequencies and first and last trains change between service periods and on holidays.

Pay with a Compass Card or a contactless credit or debit card. A Compass Card also covers the connection if you combine the train with a bus.

Bus routes to the hospital

TransLink routes 401, 407 and 414 are listed as serving the hospital. Which one suits you depends on where you start, so enter the hospital address in the trip planner and use the route and stop it gives for your departure time. Bus schedules change, and the planner shows alerts and detours.

Driving and the Gilbert Road parkade

The hospital has a multi-storey car park entered from Gilbert Road, at the southwest corner of the site. Posted rates as of September 2025 were $1.75 for 30 minutes, $15 for 24 hours, $35.25 for a week and $63 for a month. Rates change, so check the Vancouver Coastal Health page for Richmond Hospital before you go.

From Vancouver, many drivers cross the river on Highway 99 or Highway 91 and then follow Westminster Highway, but a navigation app will pick the best route for the traffic on the day. Rush hours around the bridges and tunnel can add a lot of time, so a live traffic map is worth checking before you leave.

Taxi or rideshare

A taxi takes you to the entrance, which helps with heavy bags, limited mobility or an early appointment. For a rough fare, use the taxi fare estimator, and see the Vancouver taxi page for local service.
