Without a car, the usual way from downtown Vancouver to White Rock is the Canada Line to Bridgeport Station and then TransLink bus 351 to White Rock Centre. By road it is about 45 km and 60 minutes, more when traffic is heavy on the approach to the Fraser River crossing.
Canada Line and the 351 to White Rock Centre
Ride the Canada Line from Waterfront Station to Bridgeport. The train portion takes roughly 20 minutes. At Bridgeport, change to the 351, which runs to White Rock Centre and stops at 25 places along the way. TransLink uses double decker buses on this route.
On weekdays the 351 runs every 7 to 12 minutes in the morning peak and every 10 to 12 minutes in the afternoon peak. Outside those hours, expect gaps closer to 20 minutes. Open the TransLink trip planner before you leave, particularly on weekends and holidays, because first and last departures change.

Driving south to the Semiahmoo coast
Most drivers head out of the downtown core, cross the Fraser River and carry on south through Surrey toward White Rock. The trip is about 45 km. Allow extra time in the late afternoon, when southbound traffic builds, and on sunny summer weekends, when the beach fills up.
Parking near the pier and the waterfront is limited at busy times. Check the City of White Rock website for current pay parking areas and rates before you go, since these change.
