The easiest way from Fairview to Vancouver General Hospital is the number 9 bus along Broadway, or a short drive south. The hospital is at 899 West 12th Avenue, so anything that gets you to the Broadway and Oak area puts you within a few blocks.
Bus and Canada Line to the hospital
TransLink route 9 runs between UBC and Boundary Loop, and route 99 runs between UBC and Commercial-Broadway Station. Both run along Broadway, which is the corridor VGH sits just south of. Route 25 also runs from UBC along Broadway toward Brentwood Station. Hop on any of these heading east from Fairview and ask the driver or check the planner for the right stop for the hospital campus.
The Canada Line is the other choice. Broadway-City Hall Station is on Cambie Street at West Broadway, and from there it is a walk or a short bus ride east to the hospital. Olympic Village Station is the stop before it if you start nearer False Creek.

Driving and parking at VGH
Vancouver Coastal Health lists parkades at West 12th Avenue and Laurel Street, and inside the Diamond Health Care Centre at West 12th Avenue and Oak Street. More parking is available within two or three blocks, including street meters and lots. Two-hour free street parking is posted in an area between Oak and Granville Streets, but the signs on the block are what count, so read them before you leave the car.
