A standard rideshare from Downtown Vancouver to White Rock costs about $77 at normal demand, with a likely range of $69 to $89. The trip is 45 km and takes about 60 minutes.
Where the $77 comes from
We priced this ride with typical rideshare rates, which are the ones listed here. The base fare is $2.50, distance adds $1.15 per km, time adds $0.35 per minute, and there is a $2 booking fee. For 45 km and 60 minutes, that works out to $2.50 plus $51.75 plus $21, then the booking fee on top.
Treat the result as an estimate. It is built from average rates and is not a price quoted by Uber. When you request the ride, the app shows the actual upfront fare, and you can decide from there.
Demand can lift the total. A 1.2 multiplier brings it to about $92, a 1.5 multiplier to about $115, and a doubled rate to about $153. If the fare looks steep, waiting a short while often lets the multiplier drop.
Comfort is about $96 for the same trip. XL, with up to six seats, is about $111. Premier is about $171.
Taxi pricing for the White Rock trip
Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi both publish the same tariff: a $3.75 flag fee and $2.18 per km. Over 45 km the meter reaches about $102. That figure leaves out waiting time and any extras, so a real fare can come in higher.
A taxi costs more than the standard rideshare estimate here, about $25 more. In return you can flag one down or phone for it without relying on an app, which suits some riders better.
Planning an hour in the car
An hour is long enough that small details matter. Look at the pickup pin in the app before the driver arrives, because a pin set a street away can cost you several minutes. Give the driver the full address of your drop off, including a unit or buzzer number.
If you travel with bags, a stroller or a wheelchair, say so when you book. Accessible vehicles need to be arranged ahead, and they are rarely available on a few minutes of notice.
Cards and app payments are common for rideshare, but if you plan to pay a taxi driver directly, ask about accepted payment types when you phone.
Finally, allow a margin on either end of the 60 minutes if you have somewhere to be at a set time.
