How to get from Vancouver to Mission?

2 min read Updated

The most comfortable ways from Vancouver to Mission are the West Coast Express commuter train on weekdays and a drive east on Highway 7 or Highway 11. Mission is about 65 kilometres southeast of Vancouver, and the train ride takes about 75 minutes.

West Coast Express from Waterfront Station

The West Coast Express runs from Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver to Mission City Station, stopping at Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge on the way. It is operated by TransLink. Service is Monday to Friday only, excluding holidays, with five trains in each direction at the morning and evening peaks, so it suits commuters better than weekend visitors.

One-way fares start at $6.95 as of mid 2026, and the fare depends on how many zones you cross. The TransLink website has the current timetable and fare table, so check both before you travel.

Buses and the drive

On weekends and outside the train hours, the transit trip is less direct. TransLink route 701 connects Mission with Coquitlam Central Station, which links to SkyTrain, and the Central Fraser Valley Transit System connects Mission with Abbotsford. Use the TransLink trip planner to build the connection for your date and time.

By car, Mission is reached by Highway 7, the Lougheed Highway, and by Highway 11, the Abbotsford to Mission highway. Peak traffic through the Port Mann corridor can add a lot to the trip, and a map app with live conditions helps you choose between the two highways on the day.

Taxi for the first or last stretch

Mission City Station is the end of the line, so a short taxi ride from there reaches most places in town. In Vancouver, a taxi to Waterfront Station is quick and removes any worry about parking downtown. The Vancouver taxi page covers pickups, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare.

Anyone planning to ride a bike should check the current route and path conditions with the municipalities along the Fraser River before heading out, since trail closures and detours change.
