Price, distance and what drives the fare
Check the Uber app first, because it is the only place that shows the real upfront price for Maple Ridge to Mission. Our own estimate is about $47 for a standard rideshare at normal demand, with a likely range of $42 to $55. The ride covers 25 km and lasts about 40 minutes.
Our figure comes from average rates and is not an Uber price. The inputs were $2.50 as the base fare, $1.15 per km, $0.35 per minute and $2 for booking. For this trip that adds up to $2.50, $28.75 for distance, $14 for time and the $2 fee.
Demand raises the fare before the booking fee. Busy periods bring it to about $56, very busy periods to about $70, and a peak at double the usual rate to about $93.
For more space or comfort, Comfort is about $59, XL (up to 6 seats) is about $68, and Premier is about $104.
Taxi, and getting the trip right
Meter total for Maple Ridge to Mission
Under the Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi tariff, the flag fee is $3.75 and each km costs $2.18. Over 25 km the meter comes to about $58. The meter figure leaves out waiting time and extras, so the bill may end up higher.
That is about $11 above the rideshare estimate at normal demand. When rideshare prices climb to the very busy or peak levels, the taxi meter becomes the cheaper option, so compare both before you decide.
Practical tips for a 40 minute ride
A trip this long deserves a careful pickup. Type the full address, check the pin position, and message the driver if the entrance is not obvious. A driver who cannot find you can add minutes before the ride even starts.
Leave a buffer if you need to arrive at a set time. Busy hours can stretch the drive beyond 40 minutes, and booking may take longer if few drivers are online near you. In smaller centres it is worth checking that cars are available before you plan a tight schedule.
If you travel with heavy luggage, ask whether it fits before the car arrives. A wheelchair accessible vehicle is best booked ahead by phone instead of through the app. Paying by card in the app fixes the price at booking, while a taxi is worth a quick question about card payment before you get in.
