A standard rideshare from Abbotsford Airport (YXX) to Mission costs about $38 at normal demand, and the likely range is $34 to $44. The trip is 20 km and takes about 30 minutes.
What the ride costs
Our estimate uses average rideshare rates: a $2.50 base fare, $1.15 per km, $0.35 per minute and a $2.00 booking fee. Twenty kilometres adds about $23 and thirty minutes adds about $10.50, then the booking fee goes on top. These figures are estimates from average rates, not Uber’s own prices, and the Uber app shows the real upfront price before you book.
When demand rises the price rises with it. A busy period (1.2 times normal) puts the trip near $45, very busy (1.5 times) near $56, and peak (2 times) near $74.
Larger cars cost more. Comfort is about $47, XL (up to 6 seats) about $54 and Premier about $83.
For a taxi, Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi both publish a $3.75 flag fee and $2.18 per km. On 20 km the meter estimate is about $47. That does not include waiting time or extras, so the final amount can be higher than the estimate.
Planning the trip from the airport
Before you request the car
Look at the pickup point in the app and see whether it matches where you are standing. Type in the full street address for Mission so the driver sees where you are going and the fare is based on the right distance.
If you are carrying more than a carry on bag or two, think about XL. Drivers in a standard car may not have space for oversized items, and asking in the app chat before they arrive saves an awkward moment at the kerb. Booking early in the app also gives you time to compare the price against the taxi figure above.
If drivers look scarce
In smaller centres fewer drivers are online, and the app may show long waits or no cars at all. When that happens, phone a taxi company and ask for a quote, because a meter estimate near $47 is a fair fallback to compare with a rideshare that has climbed toward $74.
If you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle, arrange it ahead of time rather than hoping one is free on the day. Allow some extra time for pickup when demand is high, especially if you are going to something with a set start time.
