The drive from Mission to Chilliwack takes about 45 minutes and covers 40 km. A standard rideshare is about $66 at normal demand, and the likely range runs from $59 to $77.
How the fare is put together
Our numbers come from average rates and are estimates, not Uber’s own prices. Our rate card works from a $2.50 base fare, plus $1.15 for every kilometre, $0.35 for every minute and a $2.00 booking fee. Forty kilometres adds $46.00 and 45 minutes adds $15.75, so the trip is $64.25 before the booking fee is added.
The Uber app shows the actual upfront price once you enter both addresses. That figure replaces ours.
A trip this long magnifies any demand increase, because the multiplier applies to a larger base. At 1.2 times normal demand the price is about $79. At 1.5 times it climbs to about $98, and at double the usual rate it reaches about $131. On a longer intercity run like this one, a few dollars of difference per kilometre adds up fast, so it is worth waiting a few minutes for a calmer price if you can.
Larger vehicles and the taxi option
Comfort is about $82 for this trip, XL (up to 6 seats) is about $95, and Premier is about $147. If you are travelling with several people, the XL price split between everyone can compare well with two separate cars.
For taxis, Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi both publish a flag fee of $3.75 and $2.18 per km. On 40 km that makes the meter about $91. Waiting time and extras are not included, so the bill can end up above that.
That is a clear gap from the rideshare estimate. Even so, a taxi can still be the right call if you want a fixed phone booking, so ask the dispatcher what the trip is likely to cost before you agree.
Pickup and luggage on the Chilliwack run
A 45 minute ride is long enough that comfort matters. Tell the driver about luggage when you book, and ask whether it fits if you have more than a couple of bags.
Share the exact pickup address and check the pin in the app before you confirm it. Drivers can be fewer in smaller centres, so look at how many cars are showing near you. If the wait looks long, order a bit earlier than you planned.
If anyone in your group needs a wheelchair accessible vehicle, book it well ahead, and allow extra time at busy hours since the drive time here is an average.
