How to get from West Vancouver to Ambleside Park?

2 min read Updated

Ambleside Park sits on the West Vancouver waterfront, so from most parts of West Vancouver the simplest way there is by car, taxi or a bus along Marine Drive. How long it takes depends on where you start, so check the estimate in a map app for your own address and time of day.

By car or taxi

Marine Drive is the main road through the waterfront area, and a map app will route you to the park from wherever you begin. Weekday rush hours bring heavier traffic, so build in extra time if you are travelling then. Waze or Google Maps shows live delays and accidents, and can offer a different street if Marine Drive is backed up.

A taxi suits a trip with a picnic, a group or a few kids, and it removes the parking question. Our Vancouver taxi page covers West Vancouver pickups, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare before you book.

Parking

On sunny weekends and holidays the lots near the waterfront fill early. Arrive in the morning if you can. Parking rules, fees and time limits on nearby streets vary, so read the posted signs and check the District of West Vancouver website for current parking information. Do not assume that a nearby street is free.

By bus

Buses serve the West Vancouver waterfront. Use the TransLink trip planner to find the route and stop closest to Ambleside Park for your trip. It will also show the walk from the stop and the frequency at the time you travel, which is usually lower in the evening and on Sundays.

By bike or on foot

A flat waterfront walk or ride is possible in many parts of the area. Walking time depends on your start point, so measure it in a map app. If you cycle, wear a helmet and expect busy sections when the park is crowded. Bring water on warm days, and plan for the weather turning.

When to go

Mornings and weekdays are quieter around the park. Weekend afternoons in summer bring crowds, so allow time to find a spot and to get out again when everyone leaves at once.
