Grandview-Woodland and Commercial Drive overlap. The Drive runs through the neighbourhood, so for most trips the easiest way is to walk, or to ride the SkyTrain to Commercial-Broadway Station, which sits at 2550 Commercial Drive. From there you are already on the street.
Reaching Commercial Drive by SkyTrain
Commercial-Broadway Station is where the Expo Line and the Millennium Line meet, and it is the terminus of the 99 B-Line bus. If you start near the station, you can simply walk out onto the Drive. If you start further west or north in Grandview-Woodland, a short bus ride or walk to a SkyTrain stop followed by a ride to Commercial-Broadway works well.
Use the TransLink trip planner for the bus that suits your starting corner. Exact route numbers, stop locations and frequencies change, so the planner is a safer guide than a fixed list. Pay with a Compass Card or contactless card and transfers are handled for you.
On foot or by bike
Much of Grandview-Woodland is flat enough to cross on foot, and the Drive is a lively street to walk along once you reach it. Cyclists can use the quieter residential streets rather than the busy arterials. A map app set to cycling will show the current bike routes, and it is worth locking up at a rack near the shops.
Driving and parking near the Drive
A car is rarely the quickest choice for such a short trip. Street parking on and around Commercial Drive is busy, and the rules change from block to block, so read the posted signs before you leave the vehicle.
Taxi or rideshare for a short hop
A cab makes sense with bags, in heavy rain or late at night when you would rather not wait for a bus. The Vancouver taxi page lists local options, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare before you book. On a trip this short the meter stays small, but traffic on Hastings and Broadway can add a few minutes.
Whichever way you travel, pick the exact address first. Commercial Drive is long, and the stretch near the station feels quite different from the blocks further north toward Venables and Grandview Park. Pinning your destination in a map app saves a lot of wandering.
