How to get from Downtown Vancouver to Grouse Mountain Skyride?

2 min read Updated

The quickest way from downtown Vancouver to the Grouse Mountain Skyride is a taxi, rideshare or your own car: it is about 12 km and 20 minutes by road, traffic permitting. Transit works too, using the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay and then the 236 bus up the mountain.

SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay, then bus 236

Take the SeaBus from Waterfront Station across the harbour to Lonsdale Quay. The crossing takes about 12 minutes according to a travel guide, and the 236 bus to Grouse Mountain takes about 25 minutes, as Grouse Mountain states. Allow somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes door to door. Grouse Mountain notes a $10 discount on admission for transit riders at Guest Services, so ask there. From Phibbs Exchange the 232 serves the mountain. Use the TransLink trip planner for today’s times.

Driving to 6400 Nancy Greene Way

The mountain’s address is 6400 Nancy Greene Way in North Vancouver. Grouse Mountain suggests crossing Lions Gate Bridge through Stanley Park to Marine Drive, then going north on Capilano Road for 5 km. The other option is the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge, then Highway 1 westbound to the Capilano Road exit north.

All lots at the base charge for parking, paid by phone app or at the machines. Rates have changed over time, so look at the Grouse Mountain website for current prices before you drive.

Free summer shuttle and cab rides

In summer Grouse Mountain runs a free shuttle from Canada Place with the purchase of a round trip admission ticket. Check its location and hours page for dates and pickup times.

A taxi or rideshare takes you straight to the base and lets you choose your own departure time. For a rough price before you book, try the Uber estimate calculator or the taxi fare estimator, and see the Vancouver taxi page for local options.

At the base

The Skyride gondola climbs to the upper station in about 12 minutes. Buy tickets online ahead on busy days. In the evening many visitors leave at the same hour, so allow some extra time for the ride down and the trip home.
