From the Ogden Point cruise terminal, downtown Victoria is a walk of roughly 25 to 30 minutes to the Inner Harbour, or a short taxi ride. A local bus also stops on Dallas Road outside the terminal.
The Inner Harbour is the usual first stop, so the choice comes down to time, budget and how much you want to see on the way.
Walking along Dallas Road
The path follows the waterfront on Dallas Road, then turns inland onto Government Street. It is flat enough for most people, though a long day ashore with luggage or a stroller makes the distance feel longer. Wear shoes you are happy to walk in.
Local bus from Dallas Road
BC Transit buses 30 and 31 stop along Dallas Road on their way to downtown. Cruise passengers have reported paying the regular adult fare of $2.50, which covers a 90 minute transfer. Fares and routes change, so confirm both in the BC Transit trip planner before you board. Have the exact amount ready or use the transit app, and ask the driver if you are unsure about the stop for the Inner Harbour.
Taxi and shuttle options
Taxis and limousines wait at the terminal when ships are in. The ride downtown is short, and a taxi is the best fit for passengers with limited mobility or a tight schedule. Metered fares depend on distance and traffic, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough figure. For pickups around the city and the airport, see the Victoria taxi page.
During the cruise season a shuttle service has run between Ogden Point and downtown, with a per person fare. Ask at the terminal or on board your ship for the current operator, price and pickup spot.
If you are coming from Vancouver
BC Ferries sails from Tsawwassen to Vancouver Island, and the arrival terminal is outside downtown Victoria. Check the BC Ferries sailing schedule and reservation rules for your date. From the terminal you will need a bus or taxi to reach the city and the cruise terminal.
