Rideshare and a taxi can cost very different amounts on this route, and in this case we can only price one of them. From Victoria Airport (YYJ) to Downtown Victoria, a standard rideshare is about $46 at normal demand, with a likely range of $41 to $53. The trip is 27 km and takes about 30 minutes.
How we reached $46
The figure is built from average rideshare rates. It is not Uber’s own price, and the Uber app shows the real upfront price before you confirm.
Our inputs are $2.50 to start, $1.15 for every km driven, $0.35 for every minute on the clock and $2.00 for the booking. Over 27 km the distance adds $31.05, and 30 minutes adds $10.50. With the base fare that is $44.05, and the booking fee brings the total to about $46. The regional minimum fare of $6.03 does not matter on a trip this long.
Demand changes the number. At a busy time the estimate is about $55, at very busy about $68, and at peak about $90. After a flight lands, many people may open the app at once, so it is sensible to check the price before you walk out.
Larger vehicles cost more. Comfort is about $57, XL (up to 6 seats) is about $66 and Premier is about $101.

We have no published taxi tariff we could check for this area, so we cannot give a meter estimate. Phone for a quote before you get in, and ask whether the price is fixed or metered.
Victoria Taxi (250-383-7111) lists airport rides and app booking. BlueBird Cabs (250-382-2222) lists wheelchair accessible vehicles, app booking and card payment. Yellow Cab of Victoria (250-381-2222) lists wheelchair accessible vehicles and airport rides.
Airport pickup advice
Read the pickup instructions in the app carefully, since airports usually set specific places for rideshare meetings. Send the driver a message if you cannot find them.
If you have large bags, ask whether they fit before you commit. A standard car may be tight for a family with several cases, and an XL is the safer choice. Travellers who need a wheelchair accessible vehicle should book by phone before the flight, not on arrival.
Allow extra time if you have a connection to catch or a booking in town. Smaller centres can have fewer drivers online, so if the app shows none nearby, phone a taxi company instead of waiting.
