How to get from Vancouver to Fort Langley?

2 min read Updated

The most direct way from Vancouver to Fort Langley is to drive east on Highway 1 and leave at the 216 Street or 232 Street interchange. Both lead to Glover Road, which is the main road into the village on the Fraser River.

The Highway 1 route

Fort Langley is a village in the Township of Langley, at the northern edge of the township. Glover Road connects it to Highway 1 through the 216 Street and 232 Street interchanges, and it also leads to Highway 10 toward Langley City. Pick whichever exit your map app favours on the day, since traffic on Highway 1 can be heavy at rush hour and on summer weekends.

The route data we hold lists about 10 kilometres and 20 minutes by road from Langley to Fort Langley. For the Vancouver leg, a live traffic app gives a better estimate than a fixed number, because the Port Mann corridor changes so much through the day.

Without a car

  • Rent a car in Vancouver if you want to set your own departure time and stop along the way.
  • Car sharing services may cover a short trip, though you should check their service area before assuming Fort Langley is inside it.
  • Transit is possible with transfers. The TransLink trip planner shows current routes between your starting point and Fort Langley.

Parking and getting around the village

Parking rules, time limits and any fees in the village centre are set locally and can change. The Township of Langley website has the current details, so look there before you plan to leave a car for the day. Observe posted signs on Glover Road and the residential streets nearby.

Once you arrive, the village centre is compact and easy to explore on foot. Shops and cafes sit close to the riverfront, which makes the walk from a parked car short.

Taxi options

A taxi is a sound choice if you do not want to deal with parking at all. The Vancouver taxi page covers pickups on the Vancouver side, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare for the distance. Book the return ride ahead of time, since taxis in smaller communities are not always waiting on the street.
