The simplest way to reach the University of Victoria from downtown is a BC Transit bus. Routes 14 and 15 both run between downtown and the UVic Exchange, the campus bus loop. A taxi or a bike ride also works, and campus parking is covered by UVic parking services.
The right pick depends on the time of day and where on campus you are heading.
Buses to the UVic Exchange
Route 14 runs between Victoria General Hospital and UVic, passing through downtown, Oak Bay Junction and Camosun’s Lansdowne campus. BC Transit lists it as a frequent route, with service every 15 minutes or better from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays, and the full trip end to end is about 44 minutes. Route 15 Esquimalt and UVic also reaches the UVic Exchange, via Oak Bay Junction, and it has extended late service on Fridays and Saturdays.
Route 11 also reaches UVic but runs from Tillicum Centre by way of Hillside Centre, Gorge Road and Cadboro Bay, so it is not the direct link from the city centre. Use the BC Transit trip planner or the BC Transit app for the right bus from your stop, the next departure and any alerts.
On campus and around the loop
The UVic Exchange can look busy, with many routes sharing the loop. Check the stop signs and the destination on the bus front before you board for the trip back. The student paper at UVic publishes a guide to the loop that helps newcomers find the right bay.
Taxi, bike and driving
A taxi suits early starts, late finishes and anyone with equipment or luggage. Metered fares depend on distance and traffic, and the taxi fare estimator gives a rough fare. For pickups across the city and at the airport, see the Victoria taxi page.
Cycling is common among students, and the Capital Regional District trail maps show current routes toward the university. If you drive, check the UVic parking services page for lots, permits and daily rates before you arrive, since visitor options vary by lot and time of year.
