From the Inner Harbour, Beacon Hill Park is an easy walk, and walking is the best way to reach it. A taxi or a BC Transit bus up Douglas Street also works if the weather is bad or the group is tired.
The walk up Belleville and Douglas
Tourism Victoria describes the route this way: walk up Belleville Street past the museum and the IMAX theatre to Douglas Street, turn right, and climb a short hill. At the top of that hill is the start of Beacon Hill Park. The park is large, about 200 acres, so decide which part you want before you set out, whether that is the ponds and gardens or the open ground toward the water.
Buses along Douglas Street
Douglas Street runs along the western edge of the park, and more than 20 transit routes share parts of that corridor. That means several buses can get you close from downtown. Route numbers and stops change over time, so enter your start point and Beacon Hill Park in the BC Transit Victoria trip planner and use the stop it suggests. Check the day’s schedule there too, since an older timetable may be out of date.
Which side of the park to aim for
The park’s civic address is 100 Cook Street, which points to the Cook Street side, while Douglas Street gives you the western edge. Dallas Road runs along the waterfront below the park, with views over the water. If you are heading for the sea cliffs and the path along the shore, ask a driver or tell your map app to take you toward Dallas Road. If you want the central lawns and ponds, the Douglas Street side is closer to downtown.
Taxi from downtown

Tell the driver which edge of the park you want to be dropped at, since the park is big enough that a few hundred metres makes a difference once you start walking.
