The Sea to Sky Gondola is at 36800 Highway 99, about 2 km south of Squamish, so the easiest ways from town are a short drive, a taxi or a rideshare. In summer there is also a seasonal BC Transit bus, Route 5 South Park, that runs from downtown Squamish to the gondola.
Driving and parking at the base
A car gives you the most freedom. The gondola has a lot at its base, and parking is paid year round at a flat rate of $10 for the day, using the Pay by Phone app when you arrive. Guest Services can help if you cannot use the app. Overnight parking has restrictions, including no overnight parking on Friday and Saturday nights from summer through Labour Day weekend, so ask Guest Services if you plan to stay past closing.
The summer bus from downtown Squamish
BC Transit’s Route 5 South Park is a seasonal route that serves popular local spots, including the gondola, from downtown Squamish. For 2026 it runs from June 8 to September 7. Gondola members ride it free all season. Before you go, open the Route 5 page on the BC Transit Squamish site for the current timetable and the last bus back, since seasonal schedules are adjusted from year to year. Outside those dates, plan on a car, taxi or rideshare.
Taxi and rideshare
The gondola’s own guidance says you can arrange a pickup through rideshare services. Taxis also make the short trip, and the distance is small enough that the fare should stay modest, though the meter decides the final amount. Coming from Vancouver first
Most visitors start in Vancouver, and the drive to the gondola along the Sea to Sky Highway takes about 45 minutes. The Squamish Connector runs a round trip shuttle from downtown Vancouver with two pickup spots, and day tours with transport from Vancouver are available as well. If you would rather skip the driving from Vancouver, book a ride with a Vancouver taxi instead. Check road conditions on Highway 99 before you leave, particularly in winter.
