The easiest way from Dunbar to Kerrisdale is a bus along West 41st Avenue. TransLink runs the R4 41st Ave RapidBus along that corridor, and it passes through both neighbourhoods. Do not use the 99 B-Line for this trip, because it runs along Broadway, well to the north.
R4 41st Ave along the corridor
The R4 started on January 6, 2020, and replaced the old 43 Express. It runs between UBC Exchange in the west and Joyce-Collingwood Station in the east, about 19 kilometres with 17 stops, mostly on 41st Avenue. Because it makes limited stops, it does not stop on every block. A short trip such as Dunbar to Kerrisdale may be quicker on a local route that serves every stop, so use the trip planner to compare.
Open the TransLink trip planner or app, enter your Dunbar address and your Kerrisdale destination, and set the time you plan to leave. It shows the nearest stops, the next buses and any detours.
If you are changing to SkyTrain
No SkyTrain line runs through Dunbar or Kerrisdale. The R4 does connect to the Canada Line at Oakridge-41st Avenue, which is east of Kerrisdale. That is useful if you are continuing downtown or to the airport. For a trip that ends in Kerrisdale, there is no reason to ride the train.
By foot, bike or car
The two neighbourhoods share the same long avenue, so walking or cycling is realistic if you are not in a hurry and the weather is dry. A map app shows the distance and the quietest streets for your start and end points. Many riders prefer side streets to the main road.
