Uber is a rideshare service that works across British Columbia, including Metro Vancouver, through its app. The company announced the province wide expansion on May 28, 2025, after launching in Victoria and Kelowna in June 2023.
Riders enter a destination in the app, compare the ride options and see a price estimate before requesting a car. Uber says a car is only available where drivers in the area have signed up and gone online, so waits differ between a busy Vancouver neighbourhood and a smaller town.
- Booking: Uber app, no phone dispatch number is listed.
- Area: Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and other parts of the province.
- Minimum fare: $4.43 in the Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Squamish Lillooet region since August 18, 2026, up from $3.35, under rates set by the Passenger Transportation Board.
The minimum is a floor, so most trips cost more and the final price shows in the app before you confirm. To compare with metered taxis, use the Uber calculator or see the Vancouver taxi page.
