Snug Cove Ferry Terminal sits right in the village area of Bowen Island, so the easiest way to reach the village is to walk. The ferry dock is a very short walk from the visitor centre and most restaurants and places to stay, and there is no need for a bus or car for this trip.
Walking from the dock into Snug Cove
Most of what visitors come for on Bowen Island is gathered in Snug Cove, close to the terminal. Cafes, restaurants, shops and the visitor information point are all within easy walking distance of the ferry. As you leave the terminal, follow the foot traffic and the signs toward the village centre. If the signs are unclear, ask at the visitor centre or look at a map app before you step off the boat.
Walking is fine with a daypack. With a suitcase or several bags, the walk is still short, but check the weather and allow a little extra time if you are heading to a place to stay that sits farther along the road.
Buses on the island
Bowen Island has three bus routes, numbered 280, 281 and 282, and they run on TransLink. Buses are not very frequent, though they reach most parts of the island, and a TransLink fare or transfer is valid on them. They are more useful for getting from Snug Cove to beaches, trailheads or accommodation farther out than for reaching the village itself.
Timetables change with the season. Look up the current schedule on the TransLink website for the route you need, and plan around the ferry arrival rather than assuming a bus will be waiting.
If you need a ride
