North Delta to Metrotown is 15 km, and a standard rideshare for that distance is about $31 at normal demand. Expect the price to fall between $27 and $36, and the drive to take about 25 minutes.
Costing North Delta to Metrotown
The figure comes from average rideshare rates and is not taken from Uber. When you request a ride, the Uber app shows the true upfront price, which can differ from ours.
Our rate card has a $2.50 base fare, $1.15 per km, $0.35 per minute and a $2 booking fee. Fifteen kilometres adds $17.25 and 25 minutes adds $8.75. The subtotal with the base fare is $28.50, and the $2 fee brings the total to about $31.
At busy times the fare is multiplied. A 1.2 multiplier gives about $36, a 1.5 multiplier (very busy) gives about $45, and a 2x peak gives about $59. The booking fee is added after the multiplier, so it stays at $2 whatever the demand.
For extra seats or more comfort, Comfort is about $38, XL (up to 6 seats) is about $43 and Premier is about $66.
Taxi pricing and what to do before you ride
Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi share a published tariff of $3.75 flag fee and $2.18 per km. For 15 km the meter would show about $36, which is the same as the rideshare estimate at busy demand. Add waiting time and extras to that if they apply. Because a meter does not respond to demand, it is often the steadier choice when the app shows a high multiplier.
For a trip of 25 minutes, a little preparation goes a long way. Look at the pickup point in the app and check that it matches where you are standing. Send the exact address, and add a door or entrance if the place has more than one.
If you carry shopping bags or a suitcase, tell the driver in advance. A standard car has limited space, and an XL gives you more room for about $12 extra at normal demand. People who use a wheelchair should book an accessible vehicle ahead by phone, as there are fewer of them on the road.
Finally, allow extra time if you are leaving at a busy hour. Waits are longer and prices are higher when many riders are requesting at once. If you are catching something that starts at a fixed time, treat the 25 minutes as the best case and add a margin on top. A few spare minutes cost far less than a missed start, and you can always wait inside once you arrive.
