How much is an Uber from Downtown Kamloops to Aberdeen Mall? About $16 at normal demand, with most trips falling between $14 and $18. The distance is 6 km and the drive takes around 12 minutes.
Price breakdown
We built the figure from average rideshare rates. Each ride starts at a $2.50 base fare, then adds $1.15 for every kilometre and $0.35 for every minute. For 6 km and 12 minutes that is about $13.60, and a $2 booking fee brings the total to roughly $16.
Uber sets its own prices, so read these numbers as our estimates only. Open the app, type in both addresses and you will see the real upfront price before you confirm.
When demand rises, so does the fare. A busy period (multiplier 1.2) means about $18. Very busy (1.5) means about $22, and a peak (2) means about $29. If the number looks high, waiting a few minutes and checking again is a fair option, since demand can change quickly.
Bigger vehicles cost more. Comfort is about $19, XL (seats up to 6) is about $22 and Premier is about $33. XL can be worth it if several people are riding together, because the cost is shared.
Getting there smoothly
If you prefer a taxi
We have no published taxi tariff we could check for this area, so we cannot give you a meter estimate. A phone call to a local cab company is the quickest way to get a quote. Tell them where you are leaving from and where you are going, and ask whether waiting time or extras will be added.
Shopping trips and pickups
A mall is a large place with more than one entrance, so the exact spot you give the driver matters on the way back. Before you shop, note which entrance you used and pick that same entrance for your return ride, then confirm the pin in the app. If you will have bags, tell the driver by message or choose a vehicle with more room. Weekend and evening shopping can bring more requests at the same time, so allow a bit of extra time if you need to be somewhere after.
Check the destination address in the app before you confirm, especially if more than one drop-off point is offered. A pin set a few hundred metres off can leave you walking with your bags. It also helps to keep your phone charged and the sound on, so you notice when the driver messages or calls.
Fares for a 6 km trip are modest, but the booking fee of $2 is part of every ride. If you plan several stops, one longer ride with a driver who waits is not always possible, so price each leg separately.
