Before anything else, open your rideshare app and look at the upfront price for Deep Cove, because that number is the one you will actually pay. Our figures are estimates: a standard ride from YVR Airport covers 30 km in about 45 minutes and costs around $55 at normal demand, with a likely range of $49 to $63.
Where the estimate comes from
The calculation uses average rideshare rates. There is a base fare of $2.50, then $1.15 per km and $0.35 per minute. Multiply that by the demand level, add a $2 booking fee, and you have the total. These are our own estimates, not Uber’s prices, so small differences from the app are normal.
Demand can change the picture a lot over a trip this long. A busy period (1.2 times) pushes the fare to about $65. Very busy conditions (1.5 times) bring it to about $81. At peak demand (2.0 times) it climbs to about $108, which is nearly double the normal price.
Bigger vehicles cost more again. Comfort is about $68, XL with up to 6 seats is about $78, and Premier is about $121. XL is worth a look if you are travelling with a family or with bulky luggage, since the gap from a standard ride is about $23.
Taxi meter and what to do on arrival
Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi both list a $3.75 flag fee and charge $2.18 for each km driven. Over 30 km, the meter would come to about $69. That figure leaves out waiting time and any extras, so your final fare may be a little higher. Against a normal rideshare price of $55, the taxi costs about $14 more.
Landing at an airport usually means a few minutes of confusion about where cars stop. Read the pickup note in the app before you walk out, and share the exact Deep Cove address so the driver does not need to call you for directions. If the destination is a house, add any gate or unit details.
Check the time as well. Trips at busy hours take longer, and the price may rise while you wait for a car, so refresh the app if the number looks high. When you are travelling with a wheelchair or a mobility aid, book an accessible vehicle in advance. For a large suitcase or sports gear, ask the driver whether it will fit before they pull up.
