How the rideshare estimate is built
We built this figure from average rideshare rates, and Uber does not supply it. We use a base fare of $2.50, $1.15 per km, $0.35 per minute and a $2.00 booking fee. For 42 km and 45 minutes the ride itself adds up to roughly $67, and the booking fee takes it to about $69.
Demand moves the number. When it is busy (1.2 times normal) expect about $82. When it is very busy (1.5 times) the price is about $102, and at a peak (2 times) it reaches about $135. Uber’s app gives you the actual upfront price before you confirm, which makes our numbers a planning guide only.
Larger vehicles cost more. Comfort is about $85, XL (up to 6 seats) is about $98 and Premier is about $152. XL is worth a look if you are a group or carrying several big bags.
