Taxi meter on the published tariff
We do have published tariffs for this area. Whalley Taxi and Royal City Taxi both charge a $3.75 flag fee plus $2.18 per km. On 8 km the meter comes to about $21, which is a little above the typical rideshare price.
That meter figure leaves out waiting time and any extras, so the final bill can be higher. A taxi has one advantage over a rideshare at a busy hour: the tariff does not climb with demand.
Pickup tips for the two shopping centres
Both ends of this trip are shopping centres, and large centres have more than one entrance. Open the app early and look at where the pickup pin sits. Move it if it is on the wrong side of the building, and share the exact entrance or address with the driver.
