What States Is Online Sports Betting Legal?
The state’s first official sportsbook began operating in July, and there will be multiple others on the way, though the state is still prohibiting mobile online wagering. The Peach State failed in a bid to get sports betting on the 2022 ballot during the 2021 legislative session. However, the outlook remains upbeat with a new bill expected to be discussed in January 2022. Oklahoma gaming is dominated by Native American entities and most seem disinclined to agree to sports betting until other key issues with the state government are resolved.
The legislature has considered, but has not yet passed sports betting legislation. Lawmakers have considered sports betting bills in recent years, but the state has not worked out how it would work, and which entities, most notably Minnesota Native American tribes, would be allowed to take bets. Meanwhile, the Northern Arapaho Tribe appears it may add retail sports betting under the authority of existing law, much in the way tribes in New Mexico are operating sports betting without any legislation. In the meantime, New Jersey has essentially turned into “Vegas East” . This comes even as a study released in February 2020 estimated that New York is losing $200+ million in revenue by not legalizing online sports betting.
PA is a full-service sports betting state where it’s been legal to bet on sports online, on mobile and in person since 2019.
